Township near Vanderbijlpark established in 1955 to house black residents who worked in Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging. Its neighbouring townships are Sebokeng, Orange Farm, Boipatong, Small Farms, Boitumelo, Polokong, Golden Gardens and Lakeside.
It was built as residence for migrant workers who worked for the then Iscor which is now called Arcelor Mittal Vanderbijlpark. The area now (2014) now has five primary schools, three secondary schools, one clinic, one library, a satellite police station, youth centre, one main hall and not yet used taxi rank facility.
Train the youth to use storytelling to reflect on their community of Bophelong.
Utilise the project as an opportunity for youth development in certain skill areas.
Six podcasts which will be broadcasted in the local community radio station. These podcasts content will be across various genres from radio drama, documentaries and talk shows.
